Today I have the pleasure of covering Space Otter Society! I have been involved with this project since the beginning stages of its development. One of the reasons that I stayed so long is that Otters are my favorite animals! I told Chris when I first met him that I had an idea to create my own NFT project based on otters.. I could not have developed a project with this high level of art or utility that has been shown so far! I love this art.. I also love the lore that is associated with this project! Let's take an otterventure to a space ottersy! (bad otter puns haha) This post will get back to the roots of the original purpose of this blog and look at a project to understand why it will be successful and weigh the pros and try to find any cons.. SPOILER I didn't find any! I will walk you through my thought process when deciding to mint this project or not.

The first thing that caught my eye with this project was the art as I mentioned above. I truly love otters! The second thing that stood out to me was the lore. Now, this is not something that I generally even look at with a project but this caught my eye, and let me explain why!
Like many of us in this space, I grew up playing video games and experiencing the great storylines of Halo, early Call of Duty games, and RPGs such as Bloodborne or Dark Souls. I loved these games and how interactive I had to be with them. The lore is what kept me logging in each day after school. Now, NFT projects are starting this trend. Let me explain how Space Otters does this!
There are 5 professions that an otter can be classified: Otternauts, ProfessOtters, TechnOtters, ExplOtters, and Otterzens. Here are the details on these classifications!
Otternaut Profession
Rarity: Otternauts will be 10% of the entire collection.
Utility: Otternaut NFTs will reward the holder with increased $SHELLS staking rewards and unlock your ability to join the SOS Council (Guaranteed whitelist for future SOS mints, discount for future SOS mints, exclusive access to propose NFTs swept by the Treasury for $SHELLS redemption more details will be released after mint)
These will be the most sought-after NFTs of this entire collection.
ProfessOtters Profession
Rarity. ProfessOtters will comprise 15% of the collection.
Utility. ProfessOtter NFTs will reward holders with a discount when redeeming items within the ecosystem for $SHELLS.
These otters will be the smartest otters in the Otterverse! If you seek a discount on favorable items using $SHELLS then this is your way to go. It PAYS to be smart! I will discuss the utility of tokenomics later in the blog!
TechnOtter Profession
Rarity. TechnOtters will comprise 15% of the collection.
Utility. TechnOtter NFTs will reward holders with Solar Pearls.
Looking for exclusive rewards? These Solar Pearls will be Once the royalty distribution wallet reaches 25,000 ADA They will expire after 90 days. Once claimed, they do not expire.
Solar Pearls can only be used to enter royalty distribution raffles to earn passive income and cannot be used for any other purpose.
ExplOtter Profession
Rarity. ExplOtters will comprise 25% of the collection.
Utility. ExplOtter NFTs will reward holders with Galaxy Stones.
There will be raffles requiring Galaxy Stones to enter. This can be for an NFT, ADA, exclusive whitelists, and much more. You must hold this stone in order to qualify for this raffle. This is going to be a huge incentive! These stones are found throughout the galaxy and their true capabilities have not been realized!
Otterzens Profession
Rarity. Otterzens will comprise 35% of the collection.
Utility. Otterzen NFTs will reward holders by giving them extra rewards from missions and other tasks! Think of these as your multiplier!
These otters will be the least rare but they still maximize your rewards in their utility! A known fact is that all otters no matter the profession are trained and ready to defend their land when they are called upon!
Now that we have covered the professions, let's talk about tokenomics. Now, If you are a seasoned veteran in this space you may think "here we go again with tokenomics, everyone has it" this is the trend but this project is offering $SHELLS but not to be converted on a DEX, but for utility within their project as well as partnered projects! Otter Space Society will be utilizing its own staking platform unlike anyone else in the space. This will be able to fully customize the ability to use these $SHELLS for the many diverse things that the project has planned. This token is an inception of tokenomics inside of a cryptocurrency (I'm thinking of the movie Inception) it will co-depend on the lore and the direction that the otters head into the otterverse! Another layer that the developer team has added, is that if you list your otter below 70 ADA you do not earn staking rewards. This is how they plan to control the floor and encourage holders to list higher than mint price.
One of the most important takeaways from this project that I have realized is that it caters to investors who plan on holding, investors who plan on flipping, investors who love art, and investors who love utility. These shells will allow investors to generate passive income from winning NFTs by utilizing the $SHELLS that they are earning each EPOCH (in this case it is a 14-day period compared to the 5-day Cardano EPOCH). People who love to flip can take the SHELLS and buy an NFT, then turn around and sell that NFT for 100% profit because it cost them nothing other than their initial investment. This is the beautiful thing that I have fallen in love with for this project.
Personally, I plan on getting 1 of each profession to ensure that I will be able to have access to all of the missions. I currently have an OG (+2 mints) + Otternaut Gold (+4 mints). With these roles, I will be able to mint a total of 6 otters! I am aiming to be on the Otter Council to unlock these special perks!
